“Susanne is exactly the kind of player we want in our program,” said Howells. “She is a great athlete as well as a great student. Susanne will be a terrific addition to the Montana Western volleyball program.”

Bulldog Volleyball Signs Dillon Star
Tuesday, December 18 2007
University of Montana Western volleyball coach Katie Howells’ first signing of the 2008 recruiting class is a familiar name in Southwest Montana and Bulldog Athletics.
Theresa Bennett, a 5’9 outside hitter from Dillon, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play volleyball for Montana Western. Bennett transfers from the University of Montana-Missoula. She will be a sophomore in eligibility.
“I am very excited to have Theresa Bennett join the Montana Western Bulldogs,” said Howells. “Theresa is a very smart player who sees the court well and has the ability to put the ball away. We are looking to be a competitive team in the Frontier Conference next fall and Theresa is the kind of player that can help us accomplish that.”
“I am very happy about coming to Western,” said Theresa. “It is a terrific opportunity for me in volleyball and education. It feels like home!”
Bennett’s mother Cindy, father Keith, aunts Billie, Patti, Wilma, uncle Mark and grandfather Bill are all graduates of Western. Cindy and Bill and cousin Dinny are members of the Bulldog Hall of Fame.
“It is really exciting for my whole family,” said Cindy Bennett. “Western has been a big part of family’s life for many years. Teresa wants to be a teacher and there is no better place to go for that then Western.”
Bennett is a 2006 graduate of Beaverhead County High School. She was the 2005 Southwest A volleyball Most Valuable Player.
Bennett was an 11-time letter winner at BCHS in volleyball, tennis, and basketball. She was a three-time Class A all-state selection in volleyball and two-time all-state tennis selection.
Bennett was BCHS's Wendy's High School Heisman award recipient and was honored with the Army's Outstanding Scholar-Athlete award.
From the classroom, she was selected to the honor roll and was a five-time academic all-state selection.
Bennett will major in business education.
