Choteau Star Signs With Bulldog Volleyball

Casey Rasmussen, a 5’4” setter from Choteau, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play volleyball for the University of Montana Western according to head coach Katie Howells.

Rasmussen earned All-Conference and All-State honors and was chosen her team’s MVP this past season. She was a three-year starter for Choteau earning All-Conference honors each season. For her career, she recorded 44 kills, 677 assists, 242 digs, 42 solo blocks and 30 assisted blocks. Rasmussen had a career hitting percentage of .512 and an 88 percent serving percentage.

“Casey is a very talented player,” said Howells. “She has the talent and work ethic to make a successful transition from high school to college. Casey is also an excellent student and will be a good addition to our program.”

Rasmussen also competes in basketball and track. This past season, she earned All-Conference honors in basketball.

Rasmussen will graduate this spring from Choteau High School and plans to major in health and human performance.

She is the daughter of Will and Darcy Rasmussen and joins her older sister Kyla on the Bulldog roster.

Bulldog Volleyball Signs Twin Bridges Star

Courtney Jo Nicholls, a 5’8” outside hitter and middle blocker from Twin Bridges, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play volleyball for the University of Montana Western according to head coach Katie Howells.

In her senior season, Nicholls recorded 275 kills, 69 digs, 89 solo blocks, 24 assisted blocks, 57 aces and a .425 hitting percentage. She earned All-Conference and All-State honors.

“Courtney is a very competitive athlete just like her sister Lindsey,” said Howells. “ She will bring some needed intensity to our team. We expect great things from her both on the court and in the classroom.”

In addition, she also participated in basketball and track. She earned All-Conference honors in basketball and All-Conference and All-State honors in track.

From the classroom, she earned Academic All-State honors in all sports. Nicholls will graduate this spring from Twin Bridges High School and plans to major in business at Montana Western.

She joins older sister Lindsey on the Bulldog roster. Their parents are Joe and Marlys Nicholls.
