Bulldog Volleyball Opens Season at Rocky Tournament
Monday, August 27 2007
The Bulldog volleyball team opened the 2007 season at the Frontier/Dakota Athletic Crossover Tournment.
Montana Western dropped their four matches against several nationally ranked teams. The Bulldogs lost to South Dakota MInes 3-0, lost a heartbreaker to Minot State 3-2, fell to Jamestown College 3-0 and Dickinson State 3-0.
"We played some tough matches in this tournament and even though we lost all our matches I saw a lot of positive things in each game," said Bulldog coach Katie Howells. "Our passers got the ball to our setters and our front row came out hitting hard. We need to be more consistent in a lot of areas but that is just going to take some time with such a large group of new players. I think the girls realize that they can play right along the other teams and they are ready to work hard. Overall I am pleased with our performance and I am excited to see what these girls can do once they can find a consistent level of play."
Montana Western squares off against Idaho State of the Big Sky Conference on Tuesday, Aug. 28 in Pocatello.
