Lady Bulldogs Sign Wisconsin Prep Star

Heather A. Brooks, a 5-11 guard-forward from Stoughton, Wisconsin, has signed an NAIA/Frontier Conference letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Montana Western, according to head women’s coach Kevin Engellant.

Brooks earned All-Conferences honors in both her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 8.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals. Brooks was also selected the MVP of her AAU basketball team.

“Heather is very athletic and has good size for a perimeter player,” said Engellant. “She is fundamentally sound in all areas of the game. She has a great attitude and is a very unselfish player. Heather is a great person, an outstanding student and will be a tremendous addition to our program.”

In addition to basketball, she also participated in cross-country and track, earning varsity letters in each sport. Brooks was a member of the cross-country conference championship team.

From the classroom, she maintained a 3.59 GPA and was selected to her school’s honor roll.

Brooks will graduate this spring from Stoughton High School. She is the daughter of Karl and Lori Brooks and plans to major in kinesiology/exercise science at Montana Western.

Lady Bulldogs Sign Darby and Sheridan Stars

KatieWBB1.jpg Jenna Blue, a 5-11 post player from Darby, Mont., and Katie Jane Liles, a 5-10 post player from Sheridan, Mont., have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play basketball for the University of Montana Western according to head coach Kevin Engellant.

Blue averaged 10.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for Darby. She hit 41% of her field goals and 70% of her free throws. Blue earned All-Conference honors and was selected to play in the Treasure State All-Star game. In addition to basketball, she also participated in volleyball and track. She is the daughter of Phyllis and Mike Blue. Blue will graduate this spring from Darby High School. She is undecided on her major.

“Jenna has overcome a serious knee injury and really loves the game,” said Engellant. “She is long and athletic and we are thrilled that she has chosen to join our program.”

Liles averaged 12.9 points, 11 rebounds per game and 1.3 blocks per game for her senior season.. In her career, Liles averaged 11.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She earned All-Conference and All-State honors and was selected to play in the Treasure State Classic. Liles also participated in volleyball and track. She is the daughter of Ty and Ella Todd and will graduate this spring from Sheridan High School. Liles plans to major in secondary education at Western.

“Katie has tremendous hands, good footwork and is a very good passer,” said Engellant. “Her strong presence around the basket draws a lot of attention. We are looking forward to her development as a college basketball player.”
