UMW Signs Oregon Standout

Megan Yost a 5’10” forward from Enterprise, Ore. has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western, according to head coach Kevin Engellant.
Yost will graduate from Joseph High School this spring. As a senior she averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game. Yost made second team All-State and first team All-League her junior and senior years.
Yost’s team was 29-0 this season and was the 2007-08 Oregon State Basketball Champions after finishing second at state last year. The team was 80-9 from 2005-2008.
“Megan will be a great addition to our program and our campus,” said Engellant. “She is a very athletic player who runs the court well and is a great rebounder. Megan is a tremendous student (3.8 GPA) who works hard in the classroom and on the basketball court.”
Yost participated in the Regional Academic Bowl, Math Competition, and was the 2008 Oregon State FFA Star in Agribusiness. She also played volleyball, ran track, and was a member of 4-H and FFA.
Yost is the daughter of Dave and Marianne Yost. She currently has a 3.78 G.P.A. and has been on the honor roll all four years of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Bulldogs Sign Washington Star

Bryna Trescott, a 6’4”, forward/post from Yakima, Wash., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Montana Western according to head women’s coach Kevin Engellant.
Trescott transfers from Everett Community College. She averaged 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Trescott had 68 blocked shots (2.7 per game) to lead the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC).
‘”We are thrilled that Bryna is joining our program,” said Engellant. “She is fundamentally sound post player with great hands and a good touch around the basket. Bryna is an outstanding shot blocker and rebounder. She has the size and skills to be a tremendous player in our conference.”
Trescott was selected a NWAACC Northern Region Sophomore All-Star. Everett was the Northern Division champion with a 14-2 record. They finished 23-9 overall and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NWAACC tournament.
She is a 2005 graduate of Eisenhower High School and the daughter of Roberta Clayton.
