Lady Bulldogs Sign Centerville Star

Nikea Voegel, a 5-8 forward from Great Falls, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Montana Western according to women’s coach Kevin Engellant.

Voegel averaged 16 points a game and nine rebounds a game. She hit 53% of her field goals. For her career, she averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and hit 46% of her field goals. Voegel was selected to play in the MVP of the Electric City All-Star game, where she earned MVP honors, and to the Treasure State Classic.

“Nikki is a hard-nosed player who plays much bigger than her size,” said Engellant. “She can score from the perimeter and has good moves around the basket. Nikki is a tremendous student, is very coachable and will be a great addition to our program.”

She also participated in volleyball. From the classroom, she maintained a 3.94 GPA. Voegel earned Academic All-State honors all four years of her high school career.
She is the daughter of Tom and Jill Voegel and will graduate May 20 from Centerville High School. Voegel plans to major in elementary education at Montana Western.

Great Falls Star Signs With Lady Bulldogs

Kirilynn Winkler, a 6-0 middle blocker in volleyball, and a post player in basketball from Great Falls, has signed a Frontier Conference letter of intent to play basketball and volleyball at the University of Montana Western, according to head women’s coach Kevin Engellant and head volleyball coach Katie Howells.

In basketball, Winkler averaged 12 points and seven rebounds a game last season and earned All-Conference honors. She was a three year varsity starter and was selected her team’s Co-MVP and elected team co-captain. Winkler was a member of four state tournament-qualifying teams.

“Kirilynn is a very strong post player and an outstanding athlete, said Engellant. “She has good moves around the basket and she also can step out and hit the perimeter shot. Kirilynn is a good student and will have a great career in our program.”

In volleyball, she earned All-Conference honors and was selected to the Eastern Montana All-Star team. Winkler led her team in both aces and blocks. She was a member of four state tournament-qualifying teams and was elected team captain.

“We are looking to Kirilynn to step in and play for us right away,” said Howells. “Her athleticism and work ethic make her a good fit for our program.

She also participates in track where she has earned All-Conference honors.

From the classroom she earned Academic All-State honors in all sports. Winkler was selected to the National Honor Society and to Who’s Who in America.

She will graduate on May 29 from Great Falls High School and plans to major in business at Montana Western. Winkler is the daughter of Keith and Mary Winkler.

Lady Bulldogs Sign Forsyth Star

Jill Dana, a 5-9 guard/forward from Forsyth, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Montana Western, according to head coach Kevin Engellant.

Dana is a 2004 graduate of Forsyth High School and a 2006 graduate of Miles Community College.

During her career at Forsyth High School, Dana earned All-Conference and All-State honors. At Miles Community College, she averaged 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds per game and 4.1 assists per game and was named to the Mon-Dak All-Conference team.

“We are excited Jill has chosen Western,” said Engellant. “ She is a great shooter, is strong off the dribble, and she handles the ball well for a player her size. Jill is a smart basketball player and because of her work ethic will continue to improve. Jill had a good two years at Miles Community College and she will be a great fit in our program.”

In the classroom, she maintained a 4.0 GPA and was chosen the 2006 Valedictorian at Miles Community College.

Dana plans to major in business at Montana Western. She is the daughter of Chris and Mariann Dana.
