Fairfield's Brown Transfers to Montana Western

Alysa M. Brown a 5’10” forward from Fairfield, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western according to women’s head coach Kevin Engellant.
Brown transfers from Rocky Mountain College. She did not play this past season, but as a sophomore two years ago, Brown played in 24 games for Rocky and was second on the team in scoring with 11.3 points per game. She pulled down 4.7 rebounds per game as well.
“We are thrilled that Alysa is joining our program,” said Engellant. “She is a talented, strong and athletic player who can get to the basket and make shots from the perimeter. Alysa is a competitor and definitely makes us a better team.”
Brown is a 2005 graduate of Fairfield High School where she earned all-state honors in basketball, volleyball and tennis. In her prep basketball career at Fairfield, she scored 1290 points and pulled down 719 rebounds.
Brown was selected to the Super State team of the Great Falls Tribune and played in the Montana/Wyoming All-Star game.
In tennis, she won three straight Montana Class B-C singles titles and was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd.
Brown is the daughter of Pam and Charley Brown and will major in exercise science/psychology.

Victor's Jolley Signs With Montana Western

Katie Jolley a 5’11” post from Victor, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western according to women’s head coach Kevin Engellant.
Jolley is a 2007 graduate of Victor High School and transfers to Montana Western from Montana Tech.
As a senior she averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds per game and hit 56 percent of her field goals. Jolley earned all-conference and all-state honors and was selected Athlete of the Year in the Bitteroot Valley.
“We are thrilled that Katie is joining our program,” said Engellant. “ She is a strong and athletic post player who plays much bigger than her size. Katie is a gym rat and has a great work ethic both in the classroom and on the basketball court.”
In the classroom, Jolley was an academic all-state selection and the valedictorian of her graduating class.
She is the daughter of Ted and Laurie Jolley and will major in elementary education.

Bulldog Women Sign Helena Star

Kadee Jones a 5’8” forward from Helena, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western according to women’s head coach Kevin Engellant.
As a senior she averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Jones was named her teams most improved player in her junior and senior seasons. She was the recipient of the U.S. Bank Sportsmanship Award.
“We are excited that Kadee has chosen Montana Western to continue her academic and athletic career,” said Engellant. “Kadee is a strong and hard nosed player and knows how to score against bigger players. She comes from a very successful high school program at Helena Capital High School.”
Jones also participates in track and soccer.
She will graduate from Capital High School this spring. Jones is the daughter of Shawna Broderick.

Bulldog Women Sign Florence Star

Brooke Zeiler a 5’10” forward from Lolo, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western according to women’s head coach Kevin Engellant.
As a senior she averaged 10 points, five rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.8 steals per game. For her career, Zeiler averaged 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals per game.
Zeiler earned all-state and all-conference honors her junior and senior seasons and was selected her team most valuable player.
“Brooke is a great addition to our program,” said Engellant. “She is long and athletic and runs the floor well. Brooke is a very versatile player who can score in a number of different ways.”
She also participates in track and earned all-conference and all-state honors.
In the classroom, Zeiler maintained a 3.0 GPA. She plans to major in education.
Zeiler will graduate from Florence High School this spring. She is the daughter of Duane and Paula Zeiler.

Dana Signs With Montana Western

Stephanie Dana, a 6’0” forward from Forsyth, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Montana Western according to head women’s coach Kevin Engellant.
Dana transfers from Miles Community College (MCC). She averaged 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this past season as MCC finished with a 31-2 record and won their second straight Mon-Dak championship.
“We are looking forward to Stephanie joining our program,” said Engellant. “ She will give us added size and depth in the post position. She has good low post moves and is a solid rebounder. Stephanie comes from a very successful Miles Community College program and she is an excellent student as well.”
She is a 2006 graduate of Forsyth High School where she earned all-conference and all-state honors in volleyball and basketball. Dana is the daughter of Mariann Dana and Chris and Jean Dana.
