Women's Basketball Program An Academic Winner Again

The Montana Western women’s basketball team is again ranked in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
Montana Western is ranked 18th in the NAIA with a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.315.
The Bulldogs have been named to the WBCA Honor Roll for eight straight years and were second in 2004-05.
“This is a great honor for our basketball program,” said head coach Kevin Engellant. “Our student athletes take a great deal of pride in their academic accomplishments and they understand that doing well in the classroom and getting a degree is their number one priority.”
Montana Western was one of five Frontier Conference teams honored.

Dillon Native Joins Bulldog Staff

University of Montana Western women’s basketball coach Kevin Engellant announced that Dillon native Brett Morehouse has joined his staff.
“Brett is a great addition to our coaching staff,” said Engellant. “He is a bright and energetic young coach who will bring a tremendous amount of integrity and knowledge of the game to our program. Brett is a tireless worker and someone who will be a great fit on our staff at Montana Western.”
Morehouse is a 1995 graduate of Beaverhead County High School (BCHS) of Dillon, Mont. and a 2001 graduate of Montana Western.
His coaching career began while he was a student at UMW. In 1999 he coached the BCHS boys freshman team for one season.
After graduation from Montana Western, Morehouse was the assistant girl’s basketball coach at Bigfork, Mont. for three years and one year as the j.v. coach at Polson.
He then coached for three years at Victor, Mont. where he was the head boys and girls basketball coach.
Morehouse and his wife Bergen are the proud parents of a Boston terrier named Belle.
