Lifelong Learning

OutreachThe School of Outreach embodies Montana Western’s mission of serving citizens of all ages and backgrounds with academic and community service as well as lifelong learning programs extending beyond traditional university course offerings.

A diverse range of credit, non-credit, grant-funded, self-supporting and sponsored programs are offered at locations on and off campus as well as online. Spring, summer and fall sessions are offered days, nights, and on weekends.

Career advancement

Through a partnership with ed2go Online Career Training, the School of Outreach offers a comprehensive array of opportunities to help professionals bolster their skills and knowledge for career advancement. Programs include Business and Professional; Healthcare and Fitness; Hospitality and Gaming; IT and Software Development; Management and Corporate; Media and Design; Skilled Trades and Industrial; Sustainable Energy and Going Green.

Teacher education

As part of Montana Western’s proud teacher education tradition, the School of Outreach offers teacher certification, an early childhood development degree, special education endorsement, library media endorsement. In addition to traditional classroom programs, some education programs are also offered online.

Enrichment

For our community, the School of Outreach offers personal enrichment courses through spring, summer and fall schedules. These non-credit courses cover everything under the sun from salsa dancing, bird watching, and bike maintenance to preparing for a GRE test and planning your estate.

Language

Language is a gateway to the world and to exciting new career opportunities. Montana Western’s language courses provide a solid start to French, German, Italian, Spanish and English as a second language.

Birch Creek Center

Nestled at the feet of the spectacular Pioneer Mountains, the Birch Creek Outdoor Education Center is a premier destination for outdoor learning, conference and recreational opportunities. Formerly a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, the center is now managed by Montana Western.

Road Scholar

Road Scholar programs have been a part of Montana Western since 1976. Road Scholar offers premier lifelong learning opportunities not only in the West and nearby Yellowstone National Park but across the globe.

Certified instruction

Learn new office skills and brush up on the basics through e-mail-based courses in basic Internet skills, Microsoft PowerPoint, Web page development, Windows, databases, and word processing.
