  1. Policy

    University faculty and staff are prohibited from any partisan political involvement in any student campaigns and elections.

  2. Purpose

    The purpose of this policy is to insulate ASUMW elections from undue influence by faculty or staff.

  3. Procedures

    1. Any full- or part-time member of the University faculty or staff must refrain from any partisan political involvement with student campaigns or student voting for an elected student office or student award (such as homecoming), except to announce to students when such elections will take place and encourage students to exercise their rights in participating in student government and voting without providing advice concerning candidates or issues.  Employees of the University may not endorse candidates, tickets, or ballot issue campaigns in ASUMW elections; nor display any candidate’s, ticket’s, or ballot issue’s campaign materials on their person nor in their offices, labs, or classrooms. Employees may not attempt to influence student voting or the outcome of student elections.
    2. Exception: Student body members who are eligible to vote according to the ASUMW bylaws and who are also employed by the University under student hire cards are exempt from this policy and may participate fully in student campaigns and elections.
