1. Policy

   The University of Montana Western provides wireless access points to the campus network in two circumstances. Open-access hotspots will be used to provide connectivity for the convenience of students. These access points will provide limited access to campus resources. Wireless connectivity will also be used in circumstances where hard-wired access is unavailable or impractical, such as for portable labs.

2. Purpose

   Since wireless connectivity to the campus network is inherently insecure, the intent of this policy is to establish reasonable guidelines and procedures to manage wireless networking on campus.

3. Procedures

   Wireless Network usage will follow approved procedures (Wireless Network Guidelines).

4. Authority

   The Assistant Director of Information Technology Services is in charge of the management of the UMW Wireless Data Network.

5. Responsibility

   Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Director of ITS, Assistant Director of ITS, Technology Steering Committee
