Career Planning

You know all about you but sometimes using that knowledge toward a career decision is challenging.  There is so much information available that it can be difficult to know where to begin.  So here's a place to start.



Skills Assessment/Personality Profiling:
   This can be helpful identifying professions and jobs that are based on the
   skills you like to use. 

  • MTCIS - Montana Career Information System is an onlie site offering free information concerning occupations and employment, education andtraining, and some assessment tools;  User Name: wmtcol;   Password: plan7ing .
  • MBTI© Assessment Tool (two sessions in Career Services) - an instrument that assists you in identifying your preferred thought processes.  With the information from your MBTI results, you can identify your unique style of learning, studying, test-taking and writing. The instrument takes approximately an hour to complete then about another thirty minutes to discuss the results.   

 

 

Just for fun -

  • Keirsey Character Sorter A basic personality descriptor – based on your answers to a series of questions it gives a report of your temperament and desired work environment.

 

  • If you Google “personality tests” online, you’ll have a wide selection of tests that are fun but meaningless. 

 

Job Market: Career Services has paper resources to help you succeed in the job market from resume writing to salary information.
