Get Involved!

Go Volunteer!

As a student at the University of Montana-Western you have the opportunity to serve the Dillon community and areas that extend past the local community.  College life is not just about what you can learn in the classroom and the friends you can make on campus.  It is also about exploring the community you are in.  Volunteering within the community gives you a chance to meet people within the community and to see what life is like outside of your hometown and the college campus.  This opportunity allows you to see the world in action and the situations people within the community face.  It leads a person to becoming an active citizen who cares about the people they live around and knows that theorizing along with action gets things done.  While the opportunity to volunteer exists, you must choose to go and get involved.  There are some opportunities for service listed on this page.  If you are interested in an area not covered call the Center for Service-Learning at 683-7916 to get something set up for serving Dillon, Montana, and/or the world.

Some of the volunteer options are:

  • Relay For Life – Help plan the September 2006 Relay For Life event.

  • United Blood Services Blood Drives - Donate blood in order to help save a life.

  • Dillon's Youth Connections Mentoring Program - Mentor a child in the Dillon community by spending time with them and being a positive role model.

  • Community Tutoring Program - Assist a Youth Challenge Cadet in their studies.

  • Dillon's Food Commodity Program for Seniors - Help sort and deliver nutritional food to Dillon's low-income seniors.

  • SpaceWard Bound – Test out your science and space skills by helping students learn about outer space.
