Are you an instructor or facilitator looking to add value to your course or workshop and encourage attendance? Submit a proposal for credit approval for your event. Professional development events may include a workshop, conference, seminar, book or study group, online courses, or Professional Learning Communities.
A professional development event is a concentrated training or sustained collaborative learning event that focuses on a topic or theme and consists of a minimum of 15 instructional hours.
Montana Western School of Outreach works with instructors, administrators, and facilitators to submit, review and provide credit for locally designed and delivered professional learning opportunities.
• One undergraduate semester credit is awarded for every 15 hours of instructional time. Meals, breaks, exhibits, and other non-instructional activities are not counted toward credit. Click here to view credit hour definition.
• Grading can be letter grade or pass/fail.
• Approved courses follow the Montana Western academic calendar and will be listed within a fall, spring, or summer semester. Click here to view academic calendar.
• Montana Western’s Learning Management System is Canvas.
• Submit your application a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the start of your event.
• You will receive notification of your proposal review within 2 weeks of submission.
• If approved for credit, UMW will provide a secure online registration form where participants can register and pay for credit.
• Montana Western’s professional development tuition starts at $135 for first semester credit. Additional credit fee is dependent upon instructor pay, please call for details.
