We anticipate big changes during Fall 2021 semester and we will need peer tutors! If you are a sophomore or upperclassman, have received a B+ or better in most of your classes at UMW, you might be a great peer tutor candidate. Come to the Learning Center, find out more about tutoring and pick up an application while you are there!
The Learning Center at UMW
We are providing three ways to engage with peer tutoring services during Spring Semester, 2021. To best serve you, all tutoring should be scheduled in advance.
Due to a limited number of people in the Learning Center at one time, we are providing students access to tutoring in several ways: via phone or hybrid, Zoom, and through limited face to face sessions in the Learning Center. Information on how to access remote tutoring is available on the Moodle Learning Center course page, accessible by clicking the Learning Center icon on the right side of the Moodle home page. But make an appointment first so we can give you some information!
If you haven’t enrolled in the Moodle Learning Center course page, you will need to do that, however, access is available to everyone using their Dawgs login information. Instructions on how to access remote tutoring is available, as are drop boxes for papers and assignment sheets, under each subject content area section. The content area sections are: Writing Assistance, History and social science courses, Business, Math, and HHP/KIN & Science courses. Also, under these sections will be Zoom access URL’s, accessible after a meeting time is set up with the student and tutor.
You can make an appointment by:
- Calling the Learning Center at 406.683.7200, or by
- Submitting the “Make an Appointment with a Tutor” form. Fill out the form, tell us if you want a Zoom, face to face, or phone appointment, and we will reply to your message.
- Email us at email@example.com with questions or to make an appointment
If you request a Zoom meeting, you will then go to the Moodle Learning Center course page to access the Zoom meeting at the appointed time. Instructions will be given to you when you make the appointment. Students should be prepared to submit the assignment sheet and/or paper for review prior to the remote tutoring meeting.

Already thinking about Fall 2021?
We are too! This fall there will be more face to face classes, more students on campus, more peer tutors, and more tutoring hours. In addition to our regular content area peer tutors, we will have a technology tutor, and more math and science tutors. Due to 2021 graduations, we will have new business, HHP/kinesiology, history, and psychology tutors. Plus, we will have evening hours!
Make a plan now to come into the Learning Center the first week of block 1 to see what’s new! And, if you are a sophomore or upperclassman, have received a B+ or better in most of your classes at UMW, you might be a great peer tutor candidate. Come to the Learning Center, find out more about tutoring and pick up an application while you are there!
