Road Scholar programs have been a part of the University of Montana Western, School of Outreach since 1976. The Road Scholar program offers learning adventures all over the greater Yellowstone area, serving more than 800 participants per year. Road Scholar offers premier lifelong learning opportunities not only in the West and near-by Yellowstone National Park but across the globe. We are a diverse community of knowledge seekers and explorers, united in the belief that lifelong learning is a vital part of overall wellbeing. We believe in living life to the fullest at every age — by meeting new people, touching history where it happened, and delving deep into the cultures and landscapes of the greater Yellowstone eco-system and beyond. Led by expert instructors and leaders affiliated with University of Montana Western, be immersed in history, culture, and geography as you discover this idyllic region’s national park and off-the-beaten-path locales by foot, road, raft, coach, and camera.
