October 1, 2018

The University of Montana Western rodeo team closed out the fall portion of the 2018-19 schedule at home in Dillon, Mont. over the weekend.

It was cold and blustery at the Beaverhead county fairgrounds, but that didn’t stop the competition from heating up among the best the Big Sky Region had to offer.

Individually, the Bulldogs had a successful weekend with Brody Smith finishing second in the all-around, third in the bareback riding (199 on three), and fourth in the tie-down roping. Kelly Murnion finished in second in the bull riding, (145 on two), just three points behind the winner.

Jaylee Stimpson ran a 36.32 on two in the barrels, coming just a fraction of a second short of the buckle.

The men’s team finished in fourth place, and the women finished in fifth.

The Bulldogs will be off for the winter and will return to action on April 11-14, 2019 at the MSU Rodeo in Bozeman, Mont.
