Handlos named to athletic training hall of fame.

June 7, 2016

The induction ceremony occurred at the MTATA annual meeting in Helena, Mont.

Handlos has practiced athletic training in Montana for 16 years. She previously served as head athletic trainer and interim athletic director at Montana Western.

“I’m excited to have been inducted into the MTATA Hall of Fame,” Handlos said. “It’s a real honor to be included along with my mentor Dave Kendall and many others who provided outstanding athletic health care around our state.”

Handlos has been on the MTATA executive council for nearly 10 years, currently serving as secretary/treasurer. She also serves on the Northwest Athletic Trainers’ Association District 10 scholarship committee.

“Janelle goes above and beyond her job description when dealing with patient care,” UMW Athletic Director Russ Richardson said. “Janelle is viewed as an industry leader and is known to be a tireless worker on behalf of student-athletes.”

Handlos graduated with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education, health and human performance from Montana Western in 2000. She earned her doctorate in education from the University of Montana in 2014.
