The creation of the Health and Human Performance Laboratory in 2017 was a step toward expanding the experiential learning opportunities of students in both the Health and Human Performance and Physical Education and Health degrees at Montana Western.

Health and Human Performance Laboratory Students

The creation of the Health and Human Performance Laboratory in 2017 was a step toward expanding the experiential learning opportunities of students in both the Kinesiology and Physical Education and Health degrees at Montana Western. Dr. Laura Young has expanded course content in exercise physiology and testing for students in a variety of courses. Additionally, students are completing undergraduate research projects earning invitations to present at the regional American College of Sports Medicine symposium and other research showcases.

Health and Human Performance Laboratory Equipment

Newly developed partnerships with area firefighters, law enforcement officers, and community groups allow students to practice their health and fitness assessment abilities while contributing to the well-being of our community. From conducting senior fitness assessments to leading health and fitness improvement projects for the Beaverhead County Sheriff Department, Montana Western’s students are gaining valuable experience while providing much-needed support and services to their neighbors.
