Missoula Children’s Theater to Present “Aladdin” at UMW

January 13, 2023

The University of Montana Western is pleased to present “Aladdin” by the Missoula Children’s Theatre as part of the 2022-23 Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series.

Missoula Children's Theatre Aladdin

Performances will be held at the University of Montana Western’s Beier Auditorium in Main Hall on Saturday, January 28 at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Adults and children of all ages are invited to attend.

The much loved and ever entertaining Missoula Children’s Theater is back in town with the classic and epic tale of Aladdin! This enormously fun musical adaptation will feature children of all ages from the Dillon community. Community auditions will be held in the Beier Auditorium at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, and are open to youth ages K-12.

This adaptation follows Aladdin- who realizes it’s not easy to find a magic lamp but it’s even harder to get a date! It’s a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade, and even Sinbad the Sailor, as Aladdin journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave of (not-so-great) Wonders. Along his way, Aladdin seeks answers and advice from wise genies, a powerful sultan, and his own mother to find a way to meet the princess. However, even with the lamp in hand, Aladdin will have to learn that it takes more than a wish to make a good impression. Full of memorable characters, from lost penguins to talking palm trees, this is an adventure worthy of 1,001 laughs.
