Montana Western & Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series Present “Almost, Maine”

January 16, 2024

The University of Montana Western’s Theatre Department is pleased to present “Almost, Maine” to be performed January 29-31 as part of the 2023-24 Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series.

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Performances will be held at the University of Montana Western’s Small Auditorium located on the third floor of Main Hall. Evening shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday with matinee shows available at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Written by John Cariani and directed by Stephen Alan Seder, this performance features students from UMW’s “Introduction to Acting” course and guest artist Christina Scruggs. Scruggs is a former cast member of the Virginia City Players and Brewery Follies.
