UMW ranked nationally for students with children.

August 5, 2016

Best Colleges is an online college ranking guide that provides higher education information to students.

“Montana Western is an inclusive and welcoming place for every type of student,” Chancellor Beth Weatherby said. “We are able to provide family campus housing options for our students with children to allow them a safe and affordable place to live while they’re receiving their education.”

According to the Best Colleges website,”This list ranks 50 colleges and universities that provide a specific set of amenities for students with children, while still managing to be relatively inexpensive in terms of tuition and administrative fees.”

In addition, Montana Western’s innovative Experience One allows students with children to take a single class at a time.

The ranking is in line with Montana Western’s early childhood education (ECE) program, which provides a combination of online and traditional classes to deliver a high quality education, Professor of ECE Jen Gilliard explained.

“Many of our ECE students have children of their own, so we go out of our way to provide an environment that enables them to receive their degree and take care of their families,” Gilliard said.

This comes on heels of Montana Western’s ranking as “the best university in Montana” by Money Magazine.
