To the University Community,
I would like to take a moment to remind everyone that face coverings, worn over the nose and mouth, continue to be required on our campus unless an individual has a medical exemption from their healthcare professional.
The only time that face coverings can be removed indoors is if you are in your own enclosed office space or in your dorm room. Masks must be worn in shared workspaces, those working in receiving areas, while walking in hallways and in break/conference rooms, and any other shared spaces.
In accordance with the guidelines from the MUS Healthy Fall 2020 Task Force, all employees, students, and visitors must wear face coverings on campus as outlined below.
Montana Western Face Covering Practices and Protocols:
- Face coverings are required in all indoor spaces and all enclosed or partially enclosed outdoor spaces.
- Face coverings will be required in all outdoor spaces where social distancing is not possible or difficult to reliably maintain.
- In outdoor settings where social distancing is possible, face coverings continue to be strongly recommended.
- These requirements apply to all UMW students and employees, and all visitors including service providers, contractors, vendors, suppliers, families, and community members.

It is imperative that we continue, as a campus, to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and wash/sanitize our hands frequently as these practices are our best defense against the spread of COVID-19.
Sincerely,
Chancellor Beth Weatherby
