The message below was sent to all returning UMW students from Residence Life who will be living on campus this fall.

Dear Returning UMW Student,

We are so happy you have chosen to live on campus again this year! These are challenging times, but be assured that the University of Montana Western is preparing for and eagerly anticipating your return to campus. We are committed to the safety and welfare of our students. We will provide the safest environment possible and have spent the past several months planning and preparing for you.

Given the current situation surrounding COVID-19 we have some specific instructions regarding residence hall move-in for returning students. Returning students will receive an email from Residence Life instructing them how to select a two-hour time slot for moving into the residence halls. Students are only being allowed to bring two guests to help move in. It is important for students to honor their selected time slot for a safe transition to campus. At the end of the selected time slot, parents/guests are requested to leave campus in order to protect the health of the community and to meet our social distancing guidelines. Returning students who do not sign up for a timeslot will not be allowed to check in and will have to sign up for a timeslot before doing so.

Please pay special attention to the dates below as you plan your move back to the residence halls:

Saturday, Aug. 22 (required to sign up for a two-hour time slot)

8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 23 (required to sign up for a two-hour time slot)

8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Please note that face masks are required in all Montana Western buildings (including hallways and common areas) and classrooms. The only exception to this policy is for students in the privacy of their residence hall rooms. Face masks are the first line of defense in protecting the community from the virus. It is also important for you to know that offices and public spaces are being modified to provide for adequate social distancing. Please remember to social distance yourself by staying at least 6 feet apart from others while on campus and in campus buildings.

I hope you are looking forward to being on campus as much as we are looking forward to having you here. Please check in at the Bulldog Life office located in the lower level of the Student Union Building on Saturday, August 22nd or Sunday, August 23rd, during your scheduled check-in time.

Thank You!
