The message below was sent to all incoming UMW students from Residence Life/The UMW Orientation Team.

Dear Future University of Montana Western Graduate!

Thank you for choosing the University of Montana Western to continue your education. We are proud to include you among our students and will work hard to provide you with a great orientation program to help you make your college experience a successful one. These are challenging times, but be assured that the University of Montana Western is prepared for and eagerly anticipating your arrival to campus. We are committed to the safety and welfare of our students. We will provide the safest environment possible and have spent the past several months planning and preparing for you.

Each year, orientation brings a special atmosphere to campus. The weather is typically great, the grass is green and the faculty and staff are excited about the return of our students. This year will be no different other than we will all be wearing facemasks and keeping six feet apart for the safety of everyone. Orientation is mandatory for all first year and transfer students.

Our orientation program is intended to connect and orientate you with other students, our campus and the Dillon community.  This three-day event is held Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23, and is very different from our Bulldog Bound day.

The orientation schedule will inform you and your family of the details of the event including when you can move into your room on campus, the planned activities for students and when parents and guests should plan to depart.

If you are a student-athlete and will be coming to campus before August 21, you are still required to attend orientation. Don’t worry, your coach knows and expects you to attend orientation so you can be successful in and out of the classroom.

We are excited to have you with us at Montana Western and look forward to your success as a student and community member.

Please check in at the Orientation table on Friday, August 21, during your scheduled check-in time. Information about how to arrange a move in time is located on the orientation schedule. Check in is located in front of Davis Hall (750 East Cornell, Dillon, MT on your phone or GPS).

Sincerely,

The Montana Western Orientation Team
