Biography

Will Shirley, M.S., grew up on a cow-calf operation in north-central Montana.  Will attended the University of Montana Western from 2012-2017 where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biology and an associate degree in Natural Horsemanship.  Upon completion of his undergraduate degrees Will attended the University of Missouri where he received his Master’s degree in Animal Science.  There he studied how feeding high oleic soybean oil can affect the fatty acid profiles in cattle. He was also the student beef farm manager where he assisted many different research projects such as nutrition and reproductive studies. Will instructs animal science classes at Montana Western.  His classes use a very hands-on approach and take advantage of the large number of agricultural producers in Beaverhead County. Will’s curriculum includes ranch visits and helping producers with various agricultural activities.
