Office Decorating Contest

To exemplify the campus Homecoming spirit, all offices are encouraged to decorate their space for the Annual Homecoming Office Decorating Contest. Participating in the contest will not only get your office in the spirit of Homecoming, but also excites students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

Timeline

  • Submit the Office Decorating Contest Registration form (below) by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10th. You may decorate your office without registering, but your office will not be judged as part of the contest.
  • You may begin decorating at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6th.
  • Office decorating must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10th.
  • Judging will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11th.
  • The winning office will be announced on Friday, October 13th via campus email.

Rules
  • Use removable adhesives in decorating. (No nails, staples, or duct tape)
  • Decorations should not impede office entrances or egress. (Doorknobs & locks should still work)
  • Decorations should not interfere with teaching or learning.
  • Be mindful of fire safety when decorating. (I.e. don’t hang crepe paper from the sprinklers.)
  • Extension cords should be used with caution. Avoid placing extension cords where they might cause a hazard and tape cords to the ground.
  • Offices must provide their own decorating supplies. The use of recycled materials is encouraged.
  • Adhere to the theme of Homecoming. (UMW Spirit and Bulldog Pride)
  • Vandalism of decorations will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification from contest.
Judging
  • Offices will be judged on the following criteria: creativity, theme, originality, construction, and spirit. Each criterion listed is worth 20% of the final score. Criteria descriptors are below.
  • Creativity: Artistic design, colorfulness, novel use of materials.
  • Theme: Adheres to Homecoming theme, includes references to athletics, UMW, the Bulldogs, etc.
  • Originality: Unique approach to the theme, novel use of materials.
  • Construction: Neatness, follows safety and material guidelines, sturdy construction of display.
  • Spirit: Use of school mascot, colors, and logos; avoids offensive or derogatory displays.

Homecoming royalty

The purpose of Homecoming Royalty is to recognize and honor students that are nearing the end of their academic time at Montana Western. Ideal nominees for Homecoming Royalty should be enthusiastic, energetic, involved, and in good academic standing. Voting for Homecoming Royalty will take place on Thursday, October 12th at the Pep Rally.

To nominate a friend, or yourself, for Homecoming Royalty, submit the Homecoming Royalty Nomination Form (below) by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11th.

The ASUMW Student Food Pantry provides essential resources to help students who may be facing food insecurity during their time at Montana Western. The student food pantry, located in the SUB basement, is free, confidential, and open 24/7 to all students.

Groups are invited to show their support for the student food pantry by participating in the campus-wide food drive. Groups can consist of athletic teams, classes, clubs, offices, or any other campus organization. Faculty and staff are highly encouraged to participate in the food drive. The winning group will be announced following the conclusion of the food drive.
