Description  

The University of Montana Western School of Outreach invites applications for a program coordinator to develop and implement workforce programs and services that promote career pathways and enhance the School of Outreach. Responsibilities include supporting distance students and faculty, generating new program ideas, and pursuing new funding opportunities. Student support includes informing current and prospective students about distance program requirements, admissions, and enrollment procedures. The position exercises some independence in identifying and pursuing new opportunities. This position does not have direct supervision of other staff; however, the position works closely with faculty and adjunct instructors to support students and implement programming ideas. The interactions require leadership and vision for effective project and personnel management. Some out-of-town travel may be required.

Required Qualifications  

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Evidence of strong communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Ability to support students and faculty—must demonstrate strong customer service ethic.
  • Ability to generate new funding streams (programs, grants, sponsors, etc.).
  • Ability to organize and coordinate workforce development programming.
  • Ability to track and analyze program metrics (inquiries, enrollments, expenses, revenue, etc.).
  • Ability to develop, track, and adhere to program budgets.
  • Ability to travel out of town up to five days a semester.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of certificate and associate-level programs and distance degree offerings.
  • Knowledge of workforce development needs and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Perkins grant requirements.
  • Ability to work with other staff to develop program materials.
