WUE

WUE – A great affordable education.

College can be expensive, but Montana Western offers a unique scholarship to dramatically lower costs for qualifying out-of-state students. WUE (woo-wee) stands for Western Undergraduate Exchange. Students who qualify receive a scholarship valued at over $10,000 annually.

WUE is a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Students who are residents of WICHE states may qualify to enroll at participating two and four-year college programs outside of their home state at a reduced tuition rate. WICHE states include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Eligibility

WUE scholarships are automatically awarded to high school students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Transfer students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 will also be considered for the scholarship. You must be fully admitted to Montana Western by July 1 to be eligible.

Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for the WUE Scholarship. The WUE Scholarship is non-transferable from one college to another. A student cannot establish Montana residency while receiving the WUE scholarship.

Yearly Renewal

The WUE scholarship is automatically renewed from fall term to fall term as long as the recipient maintains a minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA, is a full-time student (12 or more credits) and remains enrolled for consecutive semesters. Students may receive the WUE scholarship for up to 12 consecutive semesters.
