Bulldog Football Signs Oregon Student-Athletes

Two Oregon student athletes have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football at the University of Montana Western, according to head coach Rich Ferris.

Chris Nagel is a 6', 195 lb running back from Canby, Ore. He will graduate this spring from La Salle High School. This year Nagel has recorded 1,1452 rushing yard of 203 attempts and 11 rushing touchdowns as well as 347 reception yards for 24 receptions and four reception touchdowns.

Nagel was voted MVP in 2006 and 2007, he was offensive player of the year in 2006 and 2007, and made first team All-conference both years. He also made second team All-state in 2006 and 2007, played in the Shrine game, and in the Les Schwab Bowl in 2008.

Nagel is the son of Art and Machelle Nagel. He plans to major in secondary education a UMW. Nagel participates in tennis, snow boarding, and was part of a Journey Retreat.

Jeff Sawyer is a 6’3”, 215 lb defensive-end/tight-end from Portland, Ore. He is in his senior year at La Salle High School. Sawyer made first team All-League in 2006 and 2007..

“Jeff has a fantastic motor,” said Coach Ferris. “He is able to make plays off the edge or down the field because he is tenacious from snap to whistle.”

Sawyer is the son of Linda and Joe Sawyer. He has a 2.8 G.P.A. and also plays basketball. Sawyer plans to major in Business Management at Montana Western.
