Appreciation Game Held for Military Families and Veterans

November 13, 2017

The University of Montana Western held its annual Military Appreciation Game on Veteran’s Day to honor all active military, veterans, and their families for their service and sacrifice.

All active military and veterans were admitted free of charge to the Bulldogs vs. Rocky Mountain College football game at Vigilante Stadium.

“By stopping, even if just for a moment, to reflect on these folks who have sacrificially given for the sake of others, we honor them,” said Montana Western Athletics Director Russ Richardson.

The dedication of the stadium’s new flag pole, donated by the Dillon Jaycees as part of the National Jaycee Flag Program, was conducted during the performance of the National Anthem by Dillon Middle School student, Abby Lemlin, just before the start of the game.

Dillon Jaycees members Becky Stuart, Vice President and Jason Schumacher, Treasurer presented the Nation’s and the state of Montana’s flags to the Cadets with the Montana Youth ChalleNGe Academy for the raising of the colors. The Academy is sponsored by the National Guard and the State of Montana.

This generous gift from the Jaycees to the community enhanced the celebration in honor of the members of the armed forces and their families, and will enhance future events at the stadium for years to come.
