Chancellor Weatherby to read at upcoming “Dances with Words.”

November 23, 2015

Series director and professor Alan Weltzien said “Dances” is southwest Montana’s premier spoken word series and has hosted top authors from the region and nation over the years. The series is sponsored by the university’s English department and the Montana Western foundation.

“I am honored to be a part of this prestigious series and share my stories with the university and community,” Weatherby said.

“Small Invasions,” a collection of 13 short stories, won a Minnesota Book Award in 1997. At the time of it’s publication, Weatherby directed the Southwest State University creative writing program. She has also received the Loft-McKnight Artists Fellowship.

Following an extensive career in higher education administration, Weatherby became the 22nd chancellor of Montana Western this past January.

The reading will be in The Cup located in the basement of the Swysgood Technology Center on the Montana Western campus at 7:30 p.m. All “Dances with Words” are free and open to the public.
