Children Invited to Free Bag and Box Theatre Holiday Plays

The University of Montana Western’s Fine Arts Department presents “Bag and Box Theatre: Holiday Plays for Children” as part of the Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series held November 8-11 on the University of Montana Western campus.

Bag and Box Theatre
All children in Dillon and the surrounding areas are invited to attend a performance of Bag and Box Theatre for free.

“With the switch of a box — which can become a car — and a bag, which becomes the pizza delivery man’s hat, the Bag and Box concept reminds audiences that anyone can create a fun play and a pretend world with little to nothing,” said visiting Director and Montana Western alumna Tawsha Jones.

Runaway Presents
Theatre Professor and Technical Director Marcus Todd, with a team of student technicians, are creating a magical and colorful forest of cardboard trees, oversized gift boxes and a zany cutout airplane to highlight the holiday theme for children.

All children are invited to join the fun for free by attending the performances, which will be held on Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 10-11 at 1 p.m.

All performances are held in the Small Auditorium (Main Hall 314) on the Montana Western campus. Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Runaway Presents Group
The show features several short plays, including “The Runaway Presents.”

The shows are made possible by generous funding from the Bank of Commerce and ASUMW/Student Senate.

Individual tickets for adults are $5 and Montana Western students are admitted free of charge. Please email [email protected] for reservations and more information or call (406) 683-7422.
