Montana Western and Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series Presents “After the Quiet: Reflections on Domestic Violence”

October 21, 2026

The University of Montana Western’s Theatre Program and the Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series will present “After the Quiet: Reflections on Domestic Violence,” a series of monologues based on real life stories, in partnership with the Women’s Resource Center. Performances will be held on November 2 and 3 at 7:00 p.m. in UMW’s Beier Auditorium.

After the Quiet: Reflections of Domestic Violence. November 2026.

A tapestry of voices woven from anonymous stories of survival gathered from across the state of Montana, this original theatrical production explores life beyond trauma. Through intimate monologues, survivors share stories of resilience, healing, and the courage to reclaim their lives after domestic violence. Performed by University of Montana Western students and local artists, with a featured cameo by Christina Scruggs, a former Virginia City Player and Brewery Follies member, the production unfolds through fabric and movement, creating a powerful meditation on strength, connection, and hope.

“After the Quiet is about creating space for survivor voices to be heard,” said Izzi Simonsen, Programs Manager at the Women’s Resource Center. “By sharing their experiences, survivors can help educate our community, reduce stigma, and remind others that they are not alone.”

The University of Montana Western and the Women’s Resource Center hope the production will inspire greater understanding of domestic violence while recognizing the courage and resilience of survivors as they rebuild their lives.

The production is facilitated by Adryan Miller-Gorder, Stephen Alan Seder, Izzi Simonsen, Natalie Paulbeck, and Ella Wanamaker. It is produced by students in THTR 276: Introduction to Producing and THTR 120: Introduction to Acting.

Rated R, this production is intended for mature audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
