Mr. Reid currently serves as Vice President for Administration and Finance at Sierra Nevada College, where he supervises several campus departments including Human Resources, Business Services, Facilities, Financial Aid, and Information Technology.

Chancellor Beth Weatherby selected Reid after a comprehensive national search.

“Mike Reid is a perfect fit for the University of Montana Western. His wealth of experience with finance and budgeting, human resources, facilities and operations will be a great asset as we build upon the success of Experience One and continue to find innovative ways to foster student success,” said Chancellor Beth Weatherby. “Mike understands that a Montana Western degree is an excellent value. He will be a strong member of our team as we work to enhance that value even more. We look forward to welcoming Mike and his wife Shauna and their family to the university community and to Dillon.”

Mr. Reid has nearly 25 years of direct experience in higher education, of which 16 years has been as an Administrative and Financial Vice President. Over his career, he has held similar positions at The University of Montana; Angelo State University, Texas; Mansfield University of Pennsylvania; and Pueblo Community College, Colorado. He also held director’s positions at Southern Utah University and Dixie State College, Utah and has significant experience in capital construction and budgeting.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Master of Business Administration degree from Utah State University and also holds an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from Dixie College in Utah.

Mr. Reid is expected to begin his duties in July.

“I really felt a connection with the people I met during my visit to campus,” Reid said.  “This university has a positive energy that is palpable the minute you step on the campus.  I’m really excited to be joining the team at Montana Western.  It’s a special place; both the institution and the community.”

Current Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance, Susan Briggs, is retiring at the end of June after 20 years of dedicated and excellent service to the University of Montana Western, and before that, served in Missoula for 13 years at the University of Montana.
