Montana Western professor featured in Montana magazine

In the article, O. Alan Weltzien, professor of English at the University of Montana Western, explores the life and work of Savage. Savage is a critically praised author who grew up in southwest Montana and the Lemhi valley of Idaho. Savage wrote 13 books, seven of which were set the area of his childhood home of Dillon, Mont.

“Savage received great reviews on his work but his novels never sold widely,” Weltzien said. “Despite that lack of commercial success, he is by far the best writer from this corner of Montana.”
