Montana Western professor to address national leadership institute.

July 16, 2015

Thomas said, “I look forward to the opportunity to tell how Montana Western’s Experience One learning model is training the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.”

PKAL works with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Education Coalition in an effort to continually improve education and learning.

PKAL Program Coordinator Christina H. Shute said, “We feel that Dr. Thomas’ contribution as a mentor will be invaluable to the overall leadership development of our attendees.”

Thomas was nominated for the position by Montana Western Chancellor Beth Weatherby.

A faculty member of Montana Western since 1993, Thomas is a Regents Professor and remains the only Montana professor to be named Carnegie Foundation National Professor of the Year.

Thomas will attend the institute on the Baca Campus of Colorado College in Creston, Colo. While there he will mentor two faculty members and lead a practicum session about leadership.

The S.T.E.M. Education Coalition’s mission is to raise awareness in Congress and other organizations about the critical role science, technology, engineering and mathematic education plays in American economics and technology.
