Montana Western promotes student health.

October 21, 2015

The goal of the fair is to promote student health awareness and provide students access to local health care options they can take advantage of during their time at the university.

Along with flu shots, this year’s fair included resources from local health care providers, therapy dogs, chair massages, healthy snacks and an alcohol risk management demonstration provided by UMW counselor and addiction specialist Jerry Girard. In the demonstration Girard highlighted the dangers associated with excessive alcohol consumption and how to properly measure amounts of alcohol poured.

“The annual health and wellness fair is an excellent opportunity for us to provide our students with health education and flu shots they otherwise might not receive,” said UMW student wellness coordinator Lexi Benson. “Our community partners are great at participating in the fair and letting UMW students know about a variety of health care options right here in Dillon.”

The year’s annual fair was attended by well over 100 students.
