UMW Fine Arts Gallery Features Artist Louis Habeck

August 27, 2019

All are welcome to attend the artist talk and gallery reception celebrating Louis Habeck's exhibition, "Imaginarium," on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6-7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Gallery on the Montana Western campus.

Habeck’s collection of surreal photographs and sculptures illicit lucid feelings of wonder and discomfort. Uncanny, playful and bizarre, the art invites one to look twice at their imagination and intersection of reality.

Louis Habeck was born and currently lives in Billings, Mont. Habeck received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in photography from the University of Montana in 2011. Louis’ inspiration and expertise as a portrait photographer came from helping and learning form Andrew Habeck- his fashion photographer uncle who lives in Barcelona.

Habeck was chosen for an Artist’s Innovation Award by the Montana Arts Council in 2015 and has visited various college classes, conferences and art institutions across Montana and Wyoming demonstrating his innovative sculpting techniques.  Through painting or sculpture, Louis’ art depicts distinctive, melancholy creatures that investigate the transitional times in their lives. Light refreshments will be provided during the reception.
