Washington Monthly has published annual rankings of U.S. colleges and universities since 2005. Their survey is based on recruiting and graduating low-income students, research and encouraging students to give back to their country.
“We’re very encouraged by the Washington Monthly ranking which puts us in the same category with many larger and more well known institutions,” Montana Western Chancellor Beth Weatherby said. “This helps us in spreading the word that students can obtain a quality education at an affordable price from our university.”
The “Best Bang for the Buck” ranking includes an exclusive list of schools in the west who help students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. The top 40 list includes Stanford University, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Utah and Arizona State University.
The ranking comes on the heels of several national rankings recognizing Montana Western’s innovative Experience One program, affordability, small class sizes and location.
Last month Money Magazine named Montana Western the best university in the state.
Washington Monthlys rankings are supported by the Lumina Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
