UMW ranked among top western public colleges.

September 9, 2015

U.S. News defines regional colleges according to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and states “these schools focus almost entirely on the undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs in the liberal arts.”

“The ranking is directly attributed to the success of Experience One,” Chancellor Beth Weatherby said. “Experience One enables our faculty to teach in a concentrated, real-world learning environment and our students are realizing remarkable success at the university and as they enter the job force or go on to the nation’s top graduate schools.”

“Our faculty and staff deserve the credit for this honor. They work tirelessly to ensure each student’s success,” Weatherby said.

The university is ranked 16th in the west in the Best Colleges for Veterans category. Montana Western also secured the 20th ranking for Best Regional Colleges in the West. Both rankings include public and private institutions.

The University of Montana Western is the only public four-year college in the country offering Experience One where students take a single class at a time.
