January 23, 2020

On January 21, 2020, The English department of the University of Montana Western inducted three new members into its Alpha Epsilon Iota chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an international honor society.

The Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society was founded in 1924 at Dakota Wesleyan University. The Society strives to confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies.

It also aspires to provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities. It fosters all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language and writing, while also promoting exemplary character and good fellowship among its members. Additionally, the society exhibits high standards for academic excellence and serves the society by fostering literacy.

Candidates for membership in Sigma Tau Delta have attained high academic achievement in the field of English studies. This year’s inductees from the University of Montana Western include Emily Engen from Fort Benton, MT, Destiny Wallace from Kalispell, MT and Thérèse Vanisko from Helena, MT.

Congratulations to these UMW students for all of their success and hard work. To find out about Sigma Tau Delta’s history, awards, events and more visit their website.
