Overview for Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities have the right to equal opportunities for education and participation in University activities. Students must meet or exceed the essential requirements of the University of Montana-Western with or without reasonable accommodations. Students initiate the request for reasonable accommodations and services in a timely manner, communicate with faculty regarding accommodations, and work with DSS as needed.

Are you seeking accommodations for courses, exams, housing, parking, or experiential education at the University of Montana-Western? Let’s register with DSS to get started.

Accommodations

Accommodations are modifications to nonessential academic requirements, reasonable changes to policies, procedures, and practices to eliminate a barrier.

Request Accommodations

You are now approved to receive academic accommodations. What’s next? Students must initiate accommodation discussions by informing their professors. Remember, students have both rights and responsibilities. Don’t delay. Retroactive requests will not be honored.
