Pima Medical Institute’s Dillon Campus Earns Triple Crown Award

December 9, 2019

Dillon, Mont. (December 5, 2019 )– Pima Medical Institute’s Veterinary Nursing Associate Degree Program at the Dillon, Montana Campus has been awarded Triple Crown status for the 2018-2019 Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) reporting year.

The Triple Crown Award recognizes programs that have achieved retention, credentialing and placement for students at a rate of 90 percent or higher.

The prestigious award and its criteria is very difficult to achieve.  The award is a recognition of the entire program including all faculty and students. Especially notable is the work of the program director, Jan Winderl, DVM. Winderl not only manages an outstanding program but also ensures the retention, credentialing and placement outcomes at 90 percent or higher. For the 2018-2019 reporting year, the Veterinary Nursing program reached a retention rate of 97 percent, a credentialing rate of 95 percent and a placement rate of 91 percent.

“When you keep in mind that our Institutional Accreditation benchmark for retention, credentialing and placement is 70 percent, Pima Medical Institute’s outcome in this program deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated,” said Jen Spurlin, Pima Medical Institute Corporate Director of Education. “The hard work and dedication to the students is best demonstrated when students graduate, get credentialed and become employed. The Dillon campus is a wonderful example of that commitment.”

Through collaboration with the University of Montana Western, Pima Medical offers in-demand Veterinary Nursing associate degree and Veterinary Assistant certificate programs.

The Dillon campus is located on the University of Montana Western campus, offering a unique experience for students. In the spring of 2017, the Veterinary Nursing associate degree program received American Veterinary Medical Association accreditation, making it the only accredited program in the state of Montana.

Students who enroll in the Pima Medical programs have use of the University of Montana Western’s facilities, including dining, recreation, library and many campus activities.
