205.1 Military Credit Policy

1. Policy
The University of Montana Western will endeavor to accept the maximum number of military credits per applicant. The campus follows Board of Regents Policy 301.5 (E) and accepts credits for prior military courses and training for credit as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE).
2. Purpose
Montana Western recognizes the importance of establishing realistic expectations regarding the acceptance of military credits. The University offers a limited number of academic majors and minors and many military credits may not apply to our majors and minors.
3. Procedures
Montana Western will give priority to military credits as follows:
- Credits that apply to general education
- Credits that apply to academic majors
- Credits that apply to academic minors
- Elective credits
In reconciling military credits with undergraduate-level academic credits, Montana Western will be guided by the military course equivalencies database.
