The purpose of this policy to establish eligibility for student financial aid.

The cost of education is determined by the Financial Aid Office and includes the costs of tuition, fees, books, living expenses, and personal expenses.
Eligibility may vary from year to year or within an academic year. Students receiving financial aid must notify the UMW Financial Aid Office of any change in their personal financial situation and any educational resources to maintain eligibility.
Federal regulations based on the Higher Education Act of 1965, Reauthorization in 2008, cited in Section 1 of the UMW Financial Aid Policy and Procedures Manual.
